IELTS/PTE/CAE+ Skills Practice & Mini Test
These microlessons and mini-tests were all devised while I was working in an ESL classroom and studying UX design and coding. Feel free to use them and send me feedback.
These tests have been separated into mini tests. They were designed to teach and test, after each section the students scores themselves and sees an explanation of each answer. They can be taken in class or on a phone - there a QR code generator in the top left corner. Based on real test but updated on topics and sometimes localised to Australia, there format is similar to IELTS online.

Mastering Multiple Choice
This is placeholder content. Put anything here: text, links, lists, etc.
- Read the questions and not the options before you read the text or listen to the audio.
- Find your own answer in the text or the audio.
- Then find the option that matches your answer most closely — the words won't be the same but the meaning will be.
- Most likely, one answer will have information that is not in the test — eliminate it.
- Most likely, one answer will have a lot of words or phrases similar to the text — too similar, so be suspicious. It may be saying the opposite thing or talking about a different point. Eliminate it.
- You probably have two answers that are true to the text and answer the question. Which one answers the question better? That’s your answer.
If Step 1 fails or takes more than a couple of minutes, try the backwards method.

- If you have fewer questions than paragraphs, start with the questions.
- Read the first paragraph only, then read all the questions and mark all the possibilities.
- If it’s a perfect match, mark it as the answer and cross it out.
- If you’re not sure, put a question mark and move on.
- Read the second paragraph, then read all the questions except the ones you have crossed out.
- Continue until all the paragraphs are finished.
- If you don’t find any questions that match a paragraph, keep going. By the end of the reading, you should have most of the answers.
